DQ Selected as the New ACSP Seminar Sponsor

As a new year begins, the Association of Corporate Service Providers (“ACSP”) has selected leading Isle of Man law firm Dougherty Quinn (“DQ”) (Isle of Man) as the new sponsor for its seminar programme for 2014. The first ACSP seminar sponsored by DQ will be in early February 2014, when the FSC's Paul de Weerd will provide an update covering the new rule book and latest trust guidelines.

ACSP chairman Mark Denton said: “These are changing times for the CSP industry and the ASCP is changing with them. It is against this background that I am pleased to welcome our new sponsor Dougherty Quinn and acknowledge the long-standing support of our previous sponsor, Barclays.

Managing director Tom Maher and his team at Dougherty Quinn share our vision for the ACSP to be recognised as one of the Island's leading trade bodies, committed to serving as the challenging voice of the Island's CSP industry and delivering a consistently high quality CPD programme. I and my fellow board members look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership.

Tom Maher commented: “DQ is delighted to have been selected as the new ACSP seminar sponsor. The ACSP performs a superb role in educating and supporting its members and flying the flag for Isle of Man plc. DQ acts as principal legal adviser to many of the Island's fiduciaries advising on corporate, trust, regulatory and contentious matters. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with the ACSP and its member firms.

DQ will again be title sponsor for the annual Douglas Choral Union (“DCU”) production, which this year sees them staging The Who's Tommy musical. A smash-hit on both sides of the Atlantic, this powerful story of spiritual yearning, confusion and rebellion bursts onto the stage in this multi-award winning adaptation of the original chart-topping rock album. Packed with classic songs including the awesome Pinball Wizard, Pete Townshend's larger than life tale of a young boy's journey from pain to triumph is the most electrifying evening of rock and roll ever to play in a theatre!

DCU Chairman Nick Cain was understandably excited about the latest production:

Tommy is a hugely exciting and ambitious production – one that's sure to bring out the best in our Society. This will be the DCU's very first rock opera and one I firmly believe will wow our audience with its sheer power, musical invention and colour. I'm in no doubt that Tommy will represent one of our biggest challenges to date, but I echo the sentiments of our acclaimed Director Tara Wilkinson; if there's any amateur company that can really pull this off, it will be us!

Released in 1969 by The Who, Tommy the album has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for “historical, artistic and significant value”. The musical has earned no less than five Tony awards, including best musical score, and three Laurence Olivier awards, including Best Musical Revival.

Tommy will play at the Gaiety Theatre from Friday 31 January to Saturday 8 February 2014, and will re-unite DCU's Miss Saigon Director Tara Wilkinson with Musical Director Andrew Hilton; both of whom boast hit performances of Tommy on their respective CVs!

Tommy will be the fifth show sponsored by DQ. Tom Maher, Managing Director, said:

We are delighted once again to be the DCU's principal sponsor. Though Tommy is very different to anything the DCU has done before, I am absolutely certain they will deliver an electrifying West End quality performance as they do year in year out. So make sure you get your tickets fast as this show is proving very popular!

Tickets to see Tommy can be purchased here.
