Erdem&Erdem (Turkey) is proud to announce that Mert Karamustafaoglu joined the team as Competition and Compliance Expert.
Mert Karamustafaoglu graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1999. Following his graduation, he received his LL.M from Free University of Berlin. He worked as at the Turkish Competition Authority as Assistant Competition Expert from 2001-2005 and later as Competition Expert until his appointment as Chief Competition Expert in 2011 where he held this position until today. Mert Karamustafaoglu worked extensively on energy and electricity market transactions as well as leading investigations of ceramics and cement, M&As in pharmaceuticals and film and entertainment industry. He was part of the team reviewing privatizations of Eti Holding, TÜPRAŞ and several natural gas distribution companies. He took active part in drafting secondary legislation by the Competition Authority and participated as a contributor in training sessions. Mert Karamustafaoglu participated in the drafting of secondary legislation in competition law, in-service trainings and certificated internship programs.
Mert Karamustafaoglu delivered presentations in various academic conferences on competition law. He is currently studying for his Ph.D at Free University of Berlin.
