"Our firm was fortunate to serve as local counsel to a St. Louis-based hotel development and management company represented by our fellow TAGLaw member, Spencer Fane LLP (Missouri, USA). In conjunction with the client’s acquisition of a prominent local hotel, von Briesen navigated the complexities of the City of Milwaukee’s licensing regime for the client, which required multiple applications, police background checks, live sworn testimony, and other hurdles to obtain occupancy, food, liquor, and other licenses. Since the transaction was for the purchase of an operating hotel, the issuance of the licenses had to be carefully choreographed with the closing.
The transaction closed and the client now owns a hotel in downtown Milwaukee, just steps away from where we will host the Democratic National Convention in 2020. Spencer Fane did the heavy lifting to get the client under contract and von Briesen helped bring the transaction to the finish line. It was a pleasure working with our TAGLaw counterparts!”
