TAG Alliances Annual Review 2025

Smooth Sailings: Success Stories 2025

Each year, our members around the world provide numerous Success Stories detailing how their firms have leveraged their TAG Alliances Membership to benefit their firm and their clients. Below, our members reflect on their experiences as TAG Alliances members and detail some of the Success Stories they experienced in 2025.

"...We Were Able to Retain the Client Successfully."

"Fender Music, a long time client of LehmanBrown in China, was seeking to use Accime Group across the Asia-Pacific region with centralized management in China. However, the client was also considering bids from another Corporate Services Provider in the region for work in Korea, including localisation of their SAP system. This could have put at risk Acclime’s China services for the client in the future, as the competitor would have become familiar with the client's SAP system, and the client intends to implement SAP in China in 2026. I worked closely with Ethan Cho at Lian Accounting Corporation (Republic of Korea) - TIAG) in preparing a joint proposal for all accounting, tax, and related compliance services, including aiding the client in the localisation of their SAP system. By working with Lian Accounting Corporation, we were able to retain the client successfully."

–Russell Brown; Acclime (Corporate Services APAC - TAG-SP) / LehmanBrown (Beijing & Shanghai, China - TIAG)

“...Cross-border Solutions That Truly Add Value For Our Clients.

“Through TAG Alliances, I was pleased to connect one of my colleagues with a trusted member firm in Canada to support a client’s GST compliance needs. Fuller Landau LLP (Ontario, Canada - TIAG) was retained by the client and its overseas affiliate ensuring they received the specialized local guidance required. This successful introduction highlights how TAG Alliances enables us to deliver seamless, cross-border solutions that truly add value for our clients.”

––Lisa Goldman; SAX Advisory Group (New York & New Jersey, USA - TIAG)

“...The Incredible Range and Responsiveness of TAG Alliances... ”

"During the TAG Alliances Spring 2025 International Conference in Boston, I had the opportunity to connect with several member firms whose expertise directly benefited my clients back in British Columbia. I collaborated with YARDS (Paris, France - TAGLaw) on a non-competition matter, partnered with Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP (San Francisco, California, USA - TAGLaw) to help facilitate connections between Cain Lamarre (Quebec, Canada - TAGLaw) and Bufete Escura (Barcelona, Spain - TAGLaw & Spain - TIAG) for one of our BC companies, and worked with Blake Morgan LLP (Southampton, England & Cardiff, Wales - TAGLaw) on employment-related questions. I also received valuable support from Babbé LLP (Guernsey - TAGLaw) on various issues. These engagements highlight the incredible range and responsiveness of TAG Alliances, and how seamlessly we can deliver international solutions to our clients. Another highlight of the Conference was my participation in the Corporate and M&A / Insolvency & Restructuring Specialty Group panel, where I had the opportunity to connect with my other panelists."

––Prentice Durban; Harper Grey LLP (British Columbia, Canada - TAGLaw)

"...A Successful Long-term Partnership"

"Blake Morgan and Nysingh advocaten-notarissen N.V. (Zwolle, Netherlands - TAGLaw) have created a successful long-term partnership through the TAGLaw alliance which has gone from strength to strength in 2025. Following various meetings at TAG Alliances conferences, our firms have been able to work together to help multiple clients, including working with global clients to fulfill multi-jurisdictional issues. Blake Morgan have benefitted significantly from Nysingh’s legal expertise, supported by key contacts such as Jolanda Krijgsman. Most recently this includes supporting a client with agreements relating to a prominent European hotel group, among others. We look forward to continuing to expand the relationship in the future."

––Rajiv Joshi; Blake Morgan LLP (Southampton, England & Cardiff, Wales - TAGLaw)

“...The Strong Partnerships we Build Through TAG Alliances

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming fellow member, RDK Consulting Services (Ghana - TIAG) to our offices where we engaged on a number of topics of common interest. This visit highlights the strong partnerships we build through TAG Alliances to provide better service and greater value. Working closely with our partners helps us share ideas and find new ways to meet our clients needs more effectively.

––Adelaide Benneh PrempehB&P Associates (Ghana - TAGLaw)

"We Consider Them an Extension of our Team."

"We are appreciative of the support provided by the entire team at AKM Global (Gurgaon, India - TIAG). Our U.S. client needed solutions to fund the purchase of equipment for their Indian subsidiary. The team at AKM Global demonstrated remarkable availability on short notice, answering all the client's questions with patience and expertise. In addition, they offered other creative solutions that our client had not previously considered. AKM Global helped us shine in front of our client. We consider them an extension of our team.

The team at Mercer & Hole (London, England - TIAG) also continues to provide us with exceptional support for our clients. They are extremely responsive on various tax issues – from individual and corporate tax to payroll tax matters. They are a pleasure to work with, and it is assuring to know that our clients are in great hands “across the pond.”

––Ray Polantz; Cohen & Co (Ohio, USA - TIAG)

"...Clear and Measurable Results for Clients Across Jurisdictions."

"In 2025, our work through TAG Alliances produced clear and measurable results for clients across jurisdictions. One of the standout matters involved a complex UK–Kuwait inheritance case pertaining to a high-net-worth family in Kuwait, where Boodle Hatfield LLP (London, England - TAGLaw), handled the sale of a UK-based estate valued at £365,867 and oversaw the full distribution of proceeds to our client’s family in Kuwait. This matter required delicate coordination between inheritance law, real estate, and cross-border compliance.

In India, Kochhar & Co. (India - TAGLaw) acted quickly in a sensitive debt recovery matter, issuing legal warnings and preparing pre-litigation protocols that helped secure our client’s interests and prevent escalation. Through TIAG, we executed a key mandate for one of our high-profile clients operating his business in Kuwait and the UAE. With the help of Jaxa Chartered Accountants (United Arab Emirates - TIAG) our client benefited from cross-border audit and tax advisory relating to regional business activities.

For us, TAG Alliances is not a label. It’s a working platform. It enables what matters: clarity, speed, and results.

––Dr. Fawaz Al Khateeb; Taher Group Law Firm (Kuwait - TAGLaw)

"...Enjoyed a Long and Successful Relationship..."

We have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with our friends at Moral | Kinikoglu | Pamukkale (Türkiye - TAGLaw), a leading full-service Turkish law firm. Over the years, we have worked alongside the firm, attended industry events together, been members of distinguished professional associations together, have acted as co-counsel and referred matters back and forth to each other.

Moral expressed interest in expanding their network of international attorneys of a similar caliber to bolster the breadth services offered to their distinguished clients in Türkiye. We knew that joining TAG Alliances would be a great fit, providing access to a global alliance of trusted attorneys. Since joining TAG Alliances, Moral has actively engaged with members and participated in cross-border collaborations, which is the cornerstone of our organization.

––Irwin KishnerHerrick, Feinstein LLP (New York, USA - TAGLaw)

"...This Important Referral."

"Weaver provides specialist services in the area of global transfer pricing, which we have been able to use to support our colleagues in TAG Alliances. For example, DJH (Manchester, England - TIAG) recently introduced their UK client to our firm for assistance with specific transfer pricing support for intercompany transactions with the client's U.S. parent company. We were able to provide timely advice for the the UK controller and scope options for assistance with future transfer pricing analyses. We also recently assisted the U.S. subsidiary of one of ESV Business advice and accounting's (New South Wales, Australia - TIAG) clients in establishing defensible arm's length transfer pricing methodologies.

Our international tax and transfer pricing team also works with non-U.S. corporate clients setting up new operations in the United States who need to align their supply chain models with the country's dynamic tariff environment. One of these recent clients also needed legal support for U.S. entity formation and other legal advice. We were able to collaborate with Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Texas, USA - TAGLaw) to provide the client with the required legal services in parallel with our ongoing transfer pricing and tax planning scope in support of the clients supply chain restructuring."

––Josh Finfrock; Weaver (Texas, USA - TIAG)

Teaming Up Across Canada to Support Build Canada Homes

"Leveraging TAGLaw members, McLeod Law LLP (Alberta, Canada - TAGLaw) recently partnered with Cain Lamarre (Quebec, Canada - TAGLaw), Fillmore Riley LLP (Manitoba, Canada - TAGLaw), Harper Grey LLP (British Columbia, Canada - TAGLaw), and BOYNECLARKE LLP  (Nova Scotia, Canada - TAGLaw) to submit a joint proposal to Justice Canada’s Build Canada Homes initiative. Marketing teams aligned on positioning and materials, structuring the legal team to provide multi-provincial coverage and deep expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects and financing, supported by specialized knowledge in P3, trade and procurement, securities, and tax. Regardless of the award outcome, the collaboration demonstrated that TAG Alliances firms can compete collectively for mandates that might otherwise default to national and international firms, while delivering seamless regional knowledge alongside national level expertise."

––Robin LokhorstMcLeod Law LLP (Alberta, Canada - TAGLaw)

"...Better Positioned to Protect the Interests of our Clients Worldwide."

"Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP represents clients engaged in a diverse range of businesses, in many cases on a global scale. In the course of advising our clients, our partners are in contact with colleagues at TAG Alliances member firms located throughout the world on nearly a weekly basis. A few recent examples include Herrick, Feinstein LLP (New York, USA - TAGLaw) for New York law advice and legal opinions, Kochhar & Co. (India - TAGLaw) for local diligence and support on an acquisition, Gecić Law (Montenegro & Serbia - TAGLaw) for local diligence and support on an acquisition, Gasparini, Barbosa e Freire Advogados (Brazil - TAGLaw) for assistance with a distribution agreement, Aumento Law Firm (Denmark - TAGLaw) for advice on an employment matter, and Mboya Wangongu & Waiyaki Advocates (Kenya - TAGLaw) for assistance with a sale of real property. Our participation in TAG Alliances and the invaluable support that we receive from other member firms consistently makes us more effective and better positioned to protect the interests of our clients worldwide."

––Paul TauberCoblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP (San Francisco, California, USA - TAGLaw)

“...The Multinational Approach of Our Joint Team

Grupo Planus and AAB, two TAG Alliances members strongly involved in the Energy market, joined efforts during Offshore Europe Conference & Exhibition in Aberdeen, Scotland, in September 2025. A team with representatives from both companies circled around the town and the exhibition contacting clients together and introducing clients to one another.

“It was a marvelous experience to be in Aberdeen not just as a Brazilian accounting firm, but as part of an international community, and even better, with a very respected local company! Clients were extremely receptive (and we could also say intrigued) by the multinational approach of our joint team”

––Felipe Pestana; Grupo Planus (Rio de Janeiro & São Paulo, Brazil - TIAG)

“It was great to see Felipe back in Aberdeen. We worked brilliantly together and not only generated additional revenue for our respective firms, but also demonstrated the strength and diversity of TIAG and our truly global outlook. Equally important, we had good fun and a lot of laughter.”

––Neil Dinnes; AAB (Scotland - TIAG)

"...Our TAG Alliances Membership Functions, Works, and Delivers."

"Throughout 2025, TAG Alliances supported us on high-value mandates spanning multiple jurisdictions, with positive and practical outcomes.

Boodle Hatfield LLP (London, England - TAGLaw), in parallel to other matters, has supported us on advising on a tax exposure linked to a BVI-registered multinational investment fund, a case now before the Kuwaiti Court of Appeal, involving KD 2,407,263.00 in assessed liabilities by the Ministry of Finance. The tax structuring and dispute work has been ongoing, with continuing support from Hunte & Co. (British Virgin Islands - TAGLaw), who streamlined the attestation of key documents and expedited filings under tight timelines and cost constraints.

We supported Gbenga Biobaku & Co. (Nigeria - TAGLaw) on a complex international financial due diligence assignment. Our prompt intervention uncovered a misrepresented brokerage relationship and blocked what would have become an international financial crime. The client formally acknowledged our team’s professionalism, speed, and sharp awareness of financial fraud indicators. In essence, our TAG Alliances membership functions, works, and delivers. We are proud to stand behind it.
"

––Ms. Iman (Faith) Ammar; Taher Group Law Firm (Kuwait - TAGLaw)

"...The Client was Very Pleased..."

"In our first full year with TAG Alliances, we have already had many success stories to share. For example, Partner Felipe Mavignier's client Beyondsoft Technology needed assistance in Costa Rica, involving free trade zone and transfer pricing issues. Mariano Batalla at Alta Batalla (Costa Rica - TAGLaw) provided high-quality services, for which our client was very grateful. Another client of ours, Ambaar Lounges, required assistance involving legal work in France, which included opening a subsidiary and agreements with construction and insurance companies in France. We promptly connected with Clare Axby at Triplet Carat Legal (Lille, France - TAGLaw) to assist, and the client was very pleased with the referral.

We have also been able to refer another client, Farmina Pet Foods–a global pet food company–to our TAG colleagues in the region. When the client needed advise on local distribution agreements in Costa Rica we referred them to Alta Batalla (Costa Rica - TAGLaw) and DHC - De Bracamonte, Haaker & Castellares Abogados (Peru - TAGLaw) assisted the client when they needed support negotiating the orderly termination of their relationship with a Peruvian supplier.

––Marcus Phelipe Barbosa de Souza; Gasparini, Barbosa e Freire Advogados (Brazil - TAGLaw)

"...An Excellent Cooperation..."

"NIRRIS enjoyed an excellent cooperation with Mr. Spencer Topham from the law firm Spencer Fane LLP (Missouri & Tennessee, USA - TAGLaw). Mr. Topham contacted us with a request to provide local legal support in connection with an overseas transaction, in which his U.S. client was acquiring a Czech entity from sellers located around the world. We were pleased to assist and successfully helped to complete the transaction during the very busy pre‑Christmas period. The cooperation with Spencer was top‑notch, and we greatly appreciated the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with U.S. legal and business culture."

––Lukas ZacekNIRRIS s.r.o., advokátní kancelář (Czech Republic - TAGLaw)

"...The Close, Cross-border Cooperation Within the TAG Tax Speciality Group"

"The close, cross-border cooperation within the TAG Tax Speciality Group is a particularly outstanding benefit of TAG Alliances membership. It is so important for clients with assets or business activities in different tax jurisdictions and it is always a pleasure to partner with advisors who share the same dedication to quality and client service."

––Mattias Kramer; LPA (Frankfurt am Main, Germany - TAGLaw & TIAG)

"...Proud to Receive Strong Support from TAG Alliances..."

"At Vivien Chan & Co., we are proud to receive strong support from TAG Alliances and to collaborate closely with fellow member firms on a large-scale cross border matter. We have been invited through the TAG Alliances to work with fellow member firms on a significant international opportunity requiring firms with robust Intellectual Property capabilities. We also greatly value the mutual referrals within the alliance, particularly from firms that continue to express confidence in recommending us for cross border legal services."

––Vivien ChanVivien Chan & Co. (Hong Kong - TAGLaw)

"...Each Experience Has Been Excellent."

"In 2025 we had another excellent experience working with Williams Mullen (North Carolina & Virginia, USA - TAGLaw), and Attorney Grant Allison, to work with them as local title and real estate counsel for a large M&A transaction for one of their clients. We have had the opportunity several times over the years to refer work back and forth with Williams Mullen and each experience has been excellent."

––Thomas KasperReid and Riege, P.C. (Connecticut, USA - TAGLaw)

"...Creating Lasting Professional Relationships and Ongoing Opportunities..."

"TAG Alliances member firms Boodle Hatfield LLP (London, England - TAGLaw) and Burness Paull LLP (Scotland - TAGLaw) demonstrated the power of collaboration by successfully supporting a boutique investor on the development of a major hotel project in Scotland's capital, to be operated by a leading global hotel brand. The relationship began when Boodle Hatfield introduced its investor client to fellow TAG Alliances member Burness Paull, recognising the value of local Scottish expertise for a complex, multi-faceted project. Working closely together, the two firms provided seamless legal support across the full lifecycle of the transaction. Burness Paull advised on the Scottish law aspects of the acquisition and development, while collaborating with Boodle Hatfield on the structuring, financing, and construction arrangements. The success of this collaboration has extended well beyond the initial transaction. As a direct result of the project, Burness Paull has received several follow-up instructions from the hotel operators and other professional advisors involved, reflecting the strength of the relationships formed and the confidence inspired by the team’s expertise and delivery. This outcome underscores the value of TAG Alliances connections, not only in delivering successful projects, but in creating lasting professional relationships and ongoing opportunities for member firms and their clients alike."

––Nick Naddell; Burness Paull LLP (Scotland - TAGLaw)

“...Allowing us to Deliver Coordinated, Jurisdiction-specific Advice”

"Silk Legal’s membership in TAGLaw has been instrumental in supporting the firm’s cross-border legal work for clients operating across multiple jurisdictions. Through TAGLaw, we have collaborated with fellow members on inbound and outbound referrals involving corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, cross-border insolvency proceedings, and technology-driven businesses, allowing us to deliver coordinated, jurisdiction-specific advice with confidence. The strength of the TAGLaw alliance lies not only in its geographic reach but in the expertise and reliability of its member firms, which has enabled efficient collaboration and seamless client handovers.

Silk Legal’s participation in TAGLaw events, discussions, and knowledge exchange has also provided valuable insights into international legal trends and best practices, directly enhancing our ability to advise clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters."

––Jason Corbett; Silk Legal Company Ltd. (Thailand - TAGLaw)

"...Enabling Seamless, Cross-border Legal Support when it Matters Most."

"Blake Morgan’s developer client based in Cardiff, Wales, undertaking a £42 million housing build (powered by green energy – solar and ground heat source) faced a contractual challenge requiring a guarantee bond to protect against the potential of contractor insolvency. Provision of a valid guarantee bond is a condition of our client’s government funding. Unusually, the bond provider was based in Costa Rica, and required due diligence on validity and enforcement. By leveraging the TAGLaw alliance, we quickly connected with Mariano Batalla, Partner at Alta Batalla (Costa Rica - TAGLaw). Following an initial briefing, Mariano acted swiftly, providing an accurate fee estimate and delivering a comprehensive legal opinion within just five days.

Without TAGLaw, delivering such a prompt and trusted solution would have been extremely difficult, potentially exposing our client to significant risk and cost . This collaboration demonstrates the power of TAG Alliances in enabling seamless, cross-border legal support when it matters most."

––Joanna ReesBlake Morgan LLP (Southampton, England & Cardiff, Wales - TAGLaw)
