Price, Helen

Helen started with Mercer & Hole as a Graduate Trainee in 2003, qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2006, and has been providing private client tax advice to high net worth individuals and their families, trusts, estates and charities ever since. She became a Director of the firm’s trust corporation arm, Mercer & Hole Trustees Limited, in 2007 and a Mercer & Hole Partner in 2008. Helen specialises in providing practical tax advice (covering Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax) and a comprehensive range of compliance services to a wide variety of clients. She helps to deliver this by ensuring she understands what is important to her clients and what concerns or worries them most.
An area Helen particularly enjoys is advising on the taxation, administration and accounting of trusts and estates and she acts as a professional trustee or executor, including for charitable trusts.
Closely working with the financial planning team, Helen appreciates the benefits of being able to offer her clients joined-up advice on both aspects of tax and financial planning. This approach enables Helen to provide her clients with a thorough understanding of their personal balance sheets and to find creative solutions.
Helen became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 2006 and is delighted to be a holder of their Spofforth Medal awarded to recognise the highest marks achieved in a specialist paper on the taxation of individuals, trusts and estates. In 2011, she became a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), the professional body for the trust and estate profession worldwide, and was recognised as a STEP Excellence Awards 2012 Winner being named as the Accountants & Tax Practitioners Diploma Student of the Year. In 2012, Helen successfully achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in Management from Birkbeck, University of London.
Helen is one of the partners involved in overseeing the recruitment of the firm’s tax and trust trainees and their progress during their three year contract.
Outside the office, Helen is the Chair of the Beds, Bucks and Herts branch of STEP and is fully occupied with a young family.
