Phil joined Mercer & Hole from a senior role in industry and works closely with an extensive portfolio of start-ups, growing businesses, medium-sized enterprises and subsidiaries of multinational corporations, providing them with practical, business-focused advice. Phil has a special interest in food and agriculture, manufacturing, construction, logistics and information technology, having previous client-side experience in these sectors. Combining hands-on experience with good technical knowledge, Phil’s commercial insight is particularly valued on business expansion and exit strategies, where his Corporate Finance expertise includes Management Buyout (MBOs), Management Buyins (MBIs), business valuations, financial due diligence assignments and the acquisition and disposal of companies.
Having originally trained in practice, Phil moved into industry where he held a number of senior finance positions and developed strong commercial and analytical skills. With responsibilities including computer systems, forecasting and management accounts, he gained detailed knowledge across a variety of sectors. Within these roles, Phil had involvement with a number of related family businesses, including farm-based enterprises, resulting in close links with the agricultural sector. Phil joined Mercer & Hole in 2007 and was made a Partner in 2012.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and three young children. He is also a keen cyclist and classic car enthusiast.
