Ben leads the firm’s Melbourne office. With over 20 years experience, Ben brings a wealth of knowledge to the Carter Newell team. His experience as an insurance lawyer and accredited commercial litigation specialist supports the growth of the firm’s eastern seaboard presence. Ben’s insurance experience includes the areas of professional indemnity, management liability, medical malpractice, public and product liability, disciplinary complaints and hearings, Coronial Inquests, the defence of recovery claims by statutory insurers, as well as insurance fraud. He also provides coverage advice and acts as coverage counsel in relation to a range of insurance products.
Ben has acted for a wide range of professions and organisations, including accountants, financial services licensees and authorised representatives, solicitors, conveyancers, real estate agents and property managers, travel agents, IT professionals, architects, engineers, building surveyors, public and private hospitals, GP clinics, radiology and pathology services, medical and allied health practitioners, operators of licensed premises, manufacturers and cleaning contractors.
Having previously worked in-house in London for a professional indemnity insurer and for two NHS Trusts (public hospitals), Ben is well attuned to the commercial requirements of clients within the insurance and health industries.
