With an emphasis on defending professional indemnity claims, Julie’s experience extends to advising Australian and international insurers across a number of insurance classes including professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’, public offering of securities, management liability, public and product liability, contract works/construction risk, property and industrial special risks.
She provides policy coverage advice and defends complex professional liability claims, including acting as defence and coverage counsel in class actions. She has acted for and against professionals including, solicitors, accountants, auditors, surveyors and construction professionals and regularly acts for insurers involved in coverage disputes. Her experience also includes acting in matters arising out of fraud and dishonesty, and the associated recovery issues.
Julie resolves claims by using alternative dispute resolution methods, having acted in numerous mediations for insurers and other organisations in Australia and the UK.
She became a partner at Carter Newell in September 2020 having been a partner in a large firm of solicitors in England before she moved to Australia in 2012.
