Eric Estadt joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in 2022 and is a member of the firm’s Business Law Practice Group. He has experience supporting a wide range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to individuals, protecting and enforcing their trademarks in a wide array of industries. Eric specializes in utility and design patents in the mechanical, medical device, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries.

As a patent attorney, Eric helps clients achieve the best protection possible. His experience includes assisting multinational corporations in the energy and robotics industries to prepare internal procedures for granting internal permissions to use software licenses and libraries. 

Eric’s experience provides long-term protection for individuals and their businesses, helping to reduce legal risk and exposure when defending against infringement claims. He has counseled clients on developments in U.S. patent law and the intellectual property implications of the Defense Production Act in various applications, including the medical device industry. 

Even with the best protection, conflicts arise, and an expert is needed. Eric has prevented infringement of a trademark on behalf of a large multinational company in the human resources industry following a cease-and-desist letter and settlement agreement. He has successfully obtained patent protection on behalf of a middle-market company in the medical device industry for a utility patent for a vascular snare, following four years of review, leading to a successful appeal before the PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board). In addition, Eric has engaged in a years-long campaign in China to reclaim a preemptively registered trademark by an ex-distributor, resulting in the cancellation of the infringing marks.
