Over the past 30 years, Ray has pursued and resolved major claims for some of the largest commercial contractors in the United States. He obtained an $18 million arbitration award against the Los Angeles Unified School District relating to construction of the Belmont Learning Center.
A strong proponent of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), Ray has served as an arbitrator and has successfully resolved hundreds of multiparty construction disputes nationally and internationally. He has also negotiated favorable contract terms, resolved labor and surety disputes, assisted with Public Contract Code compliance, and helped clients obtain real estate development entitlements.
Ray is a frequent lecturer for design professionals, contractors, insurance companies, and professional associations. He has also held numerous public service and leadership roles, including with the Marin County Planning Commission and the City of Sausalito, where he served as Mayor and Vice Mayor. Ray is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio.
