Leah is a partner and a member of our Business Law Team. She regularly advises her clients on all aspects of their business. In addition to offering general business advice, she has considerable experience with financing matters, representing both the borrower and the lender. In particular, over the past 15 years, Leah has become known in Nova Scotia and throughout Atlantic Canada as the leader in the independent pharmacy acquisition space. She has acted for both purchasers and vendors on dozens of transactions from the transition of a single-store pharmacy to matters involving multiple locations and complex financing structures. She has worked with owners of stores under all independent banners. This hands-on experience has taught Leah that being organized, an excellent communicator and rallying a team of competent professionals both internally and externally are key to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated transaction with minimal interruption to the flow of retail operations and staff morale. Leah knows what has to be done to transition a pharmacy and gets it done well.

What makes Leah an exceptional lawyer is she understands from her own experience that your business is the way you support your family and represents your time away from them. Her goal is always to reduce your stress through incomparable service and practical advice so you can focus on growing your profitable business and enjoying your life.

A life-long resident of Halifax, community is exceedingly important to Leah. Leah and her husband Darren live in a thriving Halifax neighbourhood, with their four interesting and dynamic kids; Sam, Joe, Ben and Mary. She is an active volunteer at Ecole LeMarchant St-Thomas Elementary School and has served on their Executive Committee as Communications Chair for the past three years. She also volunteers with the IWK Foundation as a member of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees. Leah has been involved with the Halifax Chamber of Commerce’s popular “Wonder Women” series since its inception and has been a featured panelist and speaker at each of these events, fueling her passion for women building up other women in business and life.

When not working, volunteering or at the hockey rink, Leah prioritizes time for herself through a daily commitment to physical fitness, in particular long-distance running. She believes passionately a healthy life is a fundamental component to success and allows her to perform at the highest level both at work and at home. She is proud to be part of a firm that shares these values.
