Casner & Edwards Partner Michael J. Goldberg Presents at ABI 2025 Northeast Bankruptcy Conference & Northeast Consumer Forum

Casner & Edwards partner Michael J. Goldberg presented at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s (ABI) 2025 Northeast Bankruptcy Conference & Northeast Consumer Forum on July 15. His panel focused on leases, and addressed real-world challenges landlords and tenants face when bankruptcy hits, using recent high-profile cases to examine the growing tensions among market realities, restructuring costs, and the Bankruptcy Code.

Goldberg focuses his practice in the areas of business bankruptcy, financial restructuring, business transactions and commercial real estate transactions. In his over 35 years of practice, he has represented a broad spectrum of clients in insolvency matters, including debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors and investors. His clients cut across a wide range of industry types, including real estate developers, high-tech, senior living and healthcare companies, medical practice groups and nonprofit institutions. Goldberg has also served as counsel to purchasers and sellers of industrial, office and multifamily real estate, with a particular expertise in real estate financing. He was one of the principal drafters of the extensive revision to the Massachusetts Homestead Act signed into law in 2010. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, and a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.
