Casner & Edwards partner Jordan P. Bowne presented the Boston Bar Association (BBA) program, “Trusts & Estates Mid-Year Review” on January 21. This annual event covers recent federal and state case law, legislation, and tax law matters. Bowne, who co-chairs the BBA’s Public Policy Committee, reported on updates to the various bills filed and passed during the current two-year state legislative cycle, which commenced on January 1, 2025. Updates included legislation pertaining to trust creation powers under a power of attorney, decanting, digital assets, and estate taxes.
Bowne focuses his practice on all areas of trusts and estates. He works directly with high net-worth clients to design, structure and implement estate planning, and tax minimization strategies. Bowne’s practice also includes advising institutional and individual fiduciaries throughout the trust and estate administration process. He has experience advocating on behalf of trust and estate beneficiaries in resolving disputes with fiduciaries and other beneficiaries. Bowne also assists clients in pre-marital planning, including pre-nuptial agreements. He currently serves as a co-chair of the Public Policy sub-committee for the Boston Bar Association’s Trusts & Estates Committee, and is an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School.
