Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard is proud to announce the election of two new Shareholders.
“Coleman Torrans’ astute knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code combined with his proactive approach to client matters contributed to his selection,” said Lugenbuhl’s managing partner, Benjamin Kadden. “Alec Szczechowski’s selection was substantiated by his early acceptance from clients and colleagues as a contributing, trustworthy and dedicated member of the admiralty team.”
Coleman Torrans, a Tulane University Law School alumnus, joined Lugenbuhl’s Bankruptcy Section in 2019 after a Summer Law Clerkship with the firm and a federal judicial clerkship for the Hon. Carl J. Barbier. His practice centers on the representation of diverse stakeholders in bankruptcy and commercial litigation proceedings, including debtors in possession, official committees, secured and unsecured creditors, and Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and post-confirmation trustees. Since joining the firm, Torrans has been recognized by numerous award platforms, including Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America® and Louisiana Super Lawyers. He is a recent alumnus of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ NextGen Program. Coleman was selected for Class II of the 20/20 Partners Rising Star Leader Award by the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Business Law Section’s Business Bankruptcy Committee, and he will be honored at the ABA’s Business Law Section Spring Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in April 2026.
Alec Szczechowski joined the firm as an experienced litigator with a diverse range of legal representation experience, including longshore workers’ compensation, federal employment law, construction law, insurance defense, and intellectual property law, including filing and litigating Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights. Since joining the firm’s Admiralty Section in 2023, his primary practice focus includes Defense Base Act claims and federal admiralty and maritime lawsuits. Szczechowski frequently shares his knowledge and participation in the matters involving these claims at a variety of legal conferences across the country as a speaker and a panelist.
