ASL is proud to celebrate Deepak Sadasivan, our Head of Banking & Finance who has once again been recognised by Asia Business Law Journal as one of Malaysia’s Top 100 A-List Lawyers 2026, and, on top of that, as one of only 20 Legal Icons in Malaysia.
The recognition is richly deserved. Deepak has been at the forefront of some of Malaysia’s most significant and pioneering financing transactions. His career includes advising on the world’s first exchangeable sukuk, Malaysia’s first Islamic stapled securities, its first municipal bonds, and a number of groundbreaking securitisation and structured finance transactions. He is also consistently recognised at the highest levels by leading international legal directories, including Band 1, Hall of Fame and Elite Practitioner in his area of practice.
Yet, impressive as these accolades are, they tell only part of the story. Those of us who have had the privilege of working with Deepak know him equally for his generosity of spirit. He is always willing to share his knowledge, make time for a colleague, offer guidance and go the extra mile. For us at ASL, that is perhaps what makes this recognition particularly special.
