Von Briesen & Roper, S.C. Nominated for 2011 ILTA Emerging Technology Champion Award

Randall D. Crocker, President and CEO of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. (Wisconsin, USA) announced that the firm is being considered for the 2011 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Emerging Technology Champion Awards. The project that resulted in the nomination is an open source intranet that has a similar look, feel and functionality to iGoogle called “vBDash.” Winners will be announced at ILTA’s annual conference in August.

The firm’s intranet went from a text-heavy, HTML-based, mostly static tool to a customizable intranet offering movable gadget boxes with both internal and external content for all employees. Later in 2011, vBDash will offer additional social aspects similar to a secure Twitter-like internal microblog feed where employees can post links, updates and news. Opting to use emerging tools and software rather than mainstream internet software, like Microsoft SharePoint, has saved money in licensing fees and given the firm endless options.

Randall Crocker, the Firm’s President and CEO said, “I am very proud to see our Firm nominated for this award and of our IT Team. We have committed our resources to technology because technology allows us to meet our service standards of providing unparalleled service to our clients. We provide all of our lawyers and professional staff with the tools to be successful, and to meet the demands of today’s fast paced professional practice. This tool allows prompt, effective and daily communication within our organization. Our client’s are better served by our team approach to the practice of law and the efficiencies that our technology team creates. Our IT team is an integral part of our Firm and a great asset to our practice”
