Roberto De Araujo López and Cristina Thayer Hausz Appointed Partners at Galindo, Arias & López

Galindo, Arias & López (Panama) is pleased to announce that Roberto De Araujo López and Cristina Thayer Hauszhave been appointed partners of our law firm.

Roberto De Araujo has been a member of GALA's team since 2007, providing advice to numerous companies as a specialist in Commercial and Corporate Law, with special emphasis on Capital Markets, Banking Law, as well as on mergers and acquisitions.

His previous professional experience includes working as Legal Advisor at the Office of the Superintendent of Companies and of the Financial Superintendent of Colombia, as well as at the Office of the Superintendent of Banks of Panama, where he served as Legal Director and acting Superintendent.

Roberto graduated with a Bachelor´s degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Santa María La Antigua, Panama (1995), and obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología, Panama (Cum Laude, 2001).

 

He has also received specialized degrees from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia (Commercial Law, 1997; Financial Management, 1998), Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología, Panama (Strategic Administration, 2001), and Georgetown University (Center for Intercultural Education and Development, 2006).

He is a member of the International Bar Association, as well as of the Panamanian chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), currently serving as Treasurer.

Roberto conducts business in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Cristina Thayer joined the firm in 2004, providing business advice in Corporate and Commercial Law, mergers and acquisitions, as well as in International Commercial Law, Competition Law, and Consumer Protection Law.

She held several positions at the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, as well as in the Foreign Trade Council, participating in the negotiations of important international agreements, such as the Trade Promotion Agreement with the United States, among others.

Cristina received her Bachelor´s degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama (1995), and her Masters of Law (LL.M.) from Georgetown University (1997), and attended several specialized programs such as the WTO Trade Policy Program (2001) and the INIDEM Legal Financial Practice program (2012).

She was admitted to professional practice in the Republic of Panama and in the State of New York (USA), and she is also an active member of the American Bar Association.
