John Wevill, a leading construction lawyer with over 15 years’ experience in the field, has been appointed as Partner within Clarkslegal’s (Reading) construction and energy team. John has expertise in advising on both non-contentious and contentious construction law for employers, funders, insurers, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors.

He regularly contributes to topical aspects of construction law for in-house and external publications and has spoken at numerous events focusing on construction law, alongside his role as a visiting lecturer at both Oxford Brookes and Nottingham Universities. His national standing and experience in the industry is recognised through his authorship of the current edition of the Royal Institute of British Architects “Law in Practice” textbook.

Managing Partner and Head of Construction David Rintoul welcomed John as the latest addition to the firm's construction team:

“The appointment of John Wevill is great news for Clarkslegal. John has an outstanding reputation across the industry and we are very excited that he has joined us. He is the fourth addition to the construction team in the past year, alongside Hamish Gray, Jamie McGee and Asha Grewal, demonstrating our continued growth in construction and energy work, a very important area of Clarkslegal’s practice.

The profile of our contract advice, negotiation and related procurement work is increasing regionally, nationally and internationally. Significant new instructions this year, from existing and new clients, have been across a broad range of projects and sectors, demonstrating the strength and depth of our expertise.”
