Paul Hopkins, senior partner leads the firm. With over 25 years experience, Paul is instrumental in driving Carter Newell’s strategic and business growth and leads the firm with a passion and commitment to providing high level legal services to clients.

Patrick Mead provides expert advice to clients in the area of building and construction law and professional indemnity. His practice embraces all aspects of this area, including contract advice, contract drafting, litigation and contract claims involving issues such as defective work, negligence, trade practices, quantum meruit, programming, delay cost, extensions of time, variations and liquidated damage.

Rebecca Stevens is an experienced insurance lawyer, specialising in property & injury law acting for local, national and international clients. She has provided advice on complex matters such as interpretation of various tort reform legislation, as well the application of exclusion clauses in public liability policies and indemnity/ dual insurance issues.

Bronwyn Clarkson’s work in the resources area has included advising on joint ventures, farm-in agreements, corporate restructuring, tenement acquisitions, due diligence investigations, gas sales and transportation agreements, pipeline land access work and landholder compensation.

Mark Brookes specialises in various aspects of insurance law and litigation, and handles primarily complex, high value and multi party disputes involving professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, management liability and employment practices liability.

David Rodighiero acts for a wide range of construction and engineering participants preparing and negotiating a wide range of contracts for commercial and infrastructure projects and well as dealing with Australian Standard Construction Contracts, David has been involved in many transactions and disputes in relation to how these contracts should be applied to all manner of projects and works.

James Plumb a specialist lawyer in the field of resources law has considerable experience advising clients in respect of the acquisition and sale of mining and petroleum projects, project development, commodity sale agreements and other commercial arrangements, and the impact of various state-based petroleum and mining regulatory regimes.

Stephen White has over 18 years experience dealing with injury and property damage claims and has particular expertise in managing portfolios of claims for corporate insured accounts where it is imperative to manage the sometimes competing interests of insureds and insurers.

Andrew Shute has considerable experience in commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution, advising a wide variety of public and private sector clients on complex disputes, and strategies for their conduct and resolution. Representing these clients he a has gained particular expertise in utilising technology to deliver more efficient and cost effective outcomes for clients (in both dispute and non-dispute contexts).
