Fillmore Riley is pleased to welcome four new articling students. Genevieve Mushaluk, Nora Fien, Jenna Seavers, and Keith Senden will embark on a year-long process of completing their articles.
Genevieve Mushaluk completed the Juris Doctor program at the University of Manitoba. Genevieve was involved in various Robson Hall extra-curricular activities and clubs such as the Business Law Group and Community Outreach Committee, and became the Manitoba Law Students Association Vice-President 2015-2016. Genevieve also participated in the Israel law exchange program, studying abroad at the Hebrew University Rothberg International School in Jerusalem for a month. In her free time, Genevieve enjoys travelling, fishing, and baking.
Nora Fien received her Juris Doctor from Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba in 2016. Prior to attending law school, Nora majored in Applied Mathematics at the University of Manitoba and earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout her university career, Nora worked as a self-employed math tutor. In her free time, Nora volunteers on political campaigns.
Jenna Seavers graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in 2016. During law school, Jenna volunteered with A Woman’s Place – Domestic Violence Support and Legal Services, as well as at the drop-in clinic at the Legal Help Centre. Some of the highlights of law school for Jenna were competing in the 2015 Solomon Greenberg Trial Advocacy Competition and participating in the Clerkship program at the Manitoba Court of Appeal. In her free time, Jenna enjoys playing soccer, camping, and cooking.
Keith Senden completed the Juris Doctor program at the University of Manitoba. Keith was involved in numerous Robson Hall extra-curricular activities and clubs. Keith was a member of the Business Law Group, as well as the Co-President of the Robson Hall Jets Hockey Team. Keith was awarded Dean’s Honor List in the Faculty of Law in 2015 and was awarded the Gilbert T. Gregory memorial Prize for receiving the highest grade in Real Estate Transactions. In his free time, Keith enjoys travelling, going to the cabin with his friends and family, and playing hockey.
To ensure students get the most out of articling, Fillmore Riley has implemented what we call the Gatekeeper System. Under this system, one designated partner receives all of the student assignments from lawyers in the firm and evenly distributes the assignments among students.
By effectively managing the work flow, the “gatekeeper” exposes students to a diverse range of legal work and helps students to build relationships with lawyers in the areas of law that interest them most.
