Ryan Swanson Announces Joe Sakay as Member and New Chair of Banking Services, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Group

Seattle based law firm Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC announces Joe Sakay has joined the firm as Member and will Chair the firm’s Banking Services, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Group. Joe joined the firm in October after many years as a principal with Hillis Clark, where he established that firm’s insolvency group.

Joe has a lender and banking industry focused insolvency and bankruptcy litigation practice, representing creditors in both Oregon and Washington. He represents lenders and secured creditors on matters ranging from workouts and state court receiverships to active participation in complex litigation and bankruptcy cases.

Joe will lead Ryan Swanson’s seven-lawyer Banking Services, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy practice group, providing legal services for local, regional, national and foreign banks/financial institutions, leasing companies and related businesses. The Group regularly represents clients in all four major bankruptcy and commercial collection areas: creditors, trustees, creditors’ committees and debtors.

“Our bankruptcy group has been a legacy practice for the firm for over 35 years,” said Managing Director David Tift. “Joe is a person of high character and quality, and he will be a great leader for that important group.”

Joe graduated from Whitman College in 1990, and received his J.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1993. Prior to entering private practice he clerked for the Honorable Richard P. Matsch in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
