Gerson Preston Names Steven F. Klein Managing Partner as Firm Ramps Up Growth Strategy

The Iconic Miami-Based Accounting Firm Continues as Trusted Leader in Tax and Advisory Services Both Domestically and Internationally

Gerson, Preston, Klein, Lips, Eisenberg & Gelber, P.A. (Gerson Preston)—one of Florida’s premier accounting firms—is pleased to solidify its thriving evolution with the appointment of Steven F. Klein as managing partner. Since stepping into his new position, Klein has spearheaded Gerson Preston’s strategic development and successfully worked in tandem with the leadership team to expand the firm’s U.S. and global footprint, including its domestic and international tax, financial reporting, consulting and private client services.

“For more than 60 years, Gerson Preston has served as a trusted business partner for some of South Florida’s most prominent individuals and businesses, and I am confident in Steven’s ability to continue the firm’s legacy of excellence,” said Gerson Preston’s founding partner Gary R. Gerson, who remains active in the strategic oversight of the firm. “After working with Steven for more than 30 years, I know he has the passion and vision to take the firm to new heights, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes moving forward.”

As managing partner and a thirty-plus year CPA, Klein leads a collaborative group of partners who share responsibility for Gerson Preston’s governance, finances, service delivery, recruitment, and growth strategy. Together, they have helped the firm achieve a 10% year-over-year growth rate in the face of an economic recession and continue to attract a wide range of clients as more individuals and businesses relocate to South Florida.

“I am so proud to lead Gerson Preston’s team as managing partner. Despite the challenges that 2020 has posed, our book of domestic and international clients continues to expand and many of our younger and next generation team members are moving up the ranks. Most importantly, we are building a culture where our firm’s leaders act as ambassadors to our community, to our clients, and to our people.” said Klein. “Gerson Preston has endured through the years because our talented accountants not only have the technical know-how to get the job done, but also understand how to deal along multicultural lines—and in a place as diverse as South Florida, that’s invaluable.”

Founded as a solo shop on Miami Beach in 1959, Gerson Preston has grown into one of Florida’s premier accounting firms. To accommodate its growth, the firm moved its headquarters from Miami Beach to the Design District in 2016 and relocated its Boca Raton office to a larger space the following year. Notably, local artist Ricardo Casado commemorated the expansion efforts with a one-of-a-kind mural depicting the firm’s evolution—from its Miami Beach days to its status as an accounting industry leader. Today, Gerson Preston is comprised of a team of more than 75 highly skilled accounting professionals across its two offices and services privately held companies, high-net worth individuals, family offices, and international investors and businesses across a diverse range of industries—including real estate, retail, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, professional services, maritime, technology and more.

Under Klein’s leadership as managing partner, Gerson Preston continues its tradition of community involvement by supporting an incredible array of organizations, including Mount Sinai Medical Center, United Way of Miami/Dade County, Diabetes Research Institute, Leukemia Society of America, Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton, Children’s Home Society of Broward County, the Miami and Boca Raton Jewish Federations, and many more. The firm will also continue to mentor the next generation of accountants in Florida through the University of Florida’s Gary R. Gerson Hall—the only free-standing public accountancy school in the United States.
