Weaver has appointed Sonia Desai, CPA, ABV, ASA, CBV, as partner-in-charge of its Forensics and Litigation Services (FLS) practice. Based in Austin, Texas, she will lead a national team that provides forensic accounting, economic damages analysis, expert witness testimony and dispute advisory services in complex commercial and financial matters.
Desai has more than two decades of experience advising clients in high-stakes shareholder disputes, post-closing purchase price and earnout disputes, commercial litigation and complex family law matters. She has served as an expert witness in state and federal courts and in arbitration hearings in matters involving lost profits, unjust enrichment, diminution in value and other financial damages.

Desai’s experience spans technology, professional services, health care, construction, financial services and other industries. In addition to her client work, she supports professional communities through speaking engagements and published insights on valuation, damages analysis and dispute trends.

Desai is a certified public accountant licensed in Texas and Illinois and a chartered professional accountant in Canada. She holds an accredited in business valuation (ABV) credential from the AICPA, an accredited senior appraiser (ASA) designation and a chartered business valuator (CBV) credential. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Society of Appraisers and the Canadian Institute of Business Valuators. Desai received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and biology from the University of Toronto.
