A Closer Look at Geoff Tierney
What does being an accountant and advisor mean to you?
I am a problem solver at heart. Being an advisor affords me the opportunity to help my clients every day with the issues that keep them up at night. My role is to solve these problems—and if I can’t, I’ll find someone who can.
What value do you and your firm receive from TAG Alliances membership?
The global reach is invaluable. Many of our clients are exploring business opportunities around the world, and our TAG Alliances membership allows us to continue supporting them. More importantly, it enables us to deliver the value they’re seeking. We have referred clients to our TAG Alliances colleagues, and they have referred clients to us. This global reach allows us to provide an exceptional service experience for our clients.
What is something unique about your firm?
I graduated from university and, ten years later, became a Partner at ESV. What helped me reach that milestone were the training and development opportunities provided to me at every turn. At ESV, we have a series of coaching programs for our aspiring leaders—developed in collaboration with a trusted coaching consultant over the past ten years. These programs are unique to ESV, and the growth of our people is a testament to their success.
Our goal is to develop our people into the leaders of tomorrow. We offer a progression of programs: the Emerging Leaders Program, followed by the Management Development Coaching Program, and finally, the bespoke Coaching Leadership Development Program, which focuses on guiding our Managers to become Partners.
Do you have a favorite memory about a TAG Alliances Conference or interaction/collaboration with another TAG Alliances member?
Overall, a fond memory of mine is being welcomed into the TAG Alliances family. We come together to share challenges, solve problems, and build relationships. It’s a very social environment, and these interactions help attendees form trusted connections. Those relationships often lead to future opportunities—that’s where the real ‘magic’ lies. I thoroughly enjoyed the International Conference in Dublin and look forward to attending more in the future.
