Bergstein Assists Allflex Subsidiary in Successful Offer for a Public Bid in Uruguay

Bergstein (Uruguay) has recently assisted Allflex´s local subsidiary in its new successful offer for the award of the international public bid called by Uruguayan authorities for the acquisition of 2.500.000 visual and electronic ear tags to identify the cattle which allows the consumer to verify the history of Uruguayan cattle.

The international bid process has concluded with a formal resolution of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries to award Allflex local subsidiary with the contract to supply visual and electronic ear tags, recently published in the Official Gazette.

Allflex is the world leader on animal traceability with subsidiaries on every key cattle market, including Australia, Canada and Uruguay since 2002. Starting in 2007 Allflex’s local subsidiary has been awarded the supply of visual and electronic ear tags required to identify the country's cattle.

This international public bid is encompassed within a larger project of the Uruguayan authorities aimed at the traceability of the Uruguayan newborn cattle since September 1, 2006. As from 2006, the Ministry launched an initiative - System of Animal Identification and Registration, SAIR - to trace all Uruguayan newborn cattle. This last bidding process just awarded to Allflex contributes to place Uruguay at the forefront of the world in terms of public health, sanitary conditions and quality, regarding cattle traceability, fully in line with top international standards.
