Labour Compensation and Labour Compensation Guarantee Fund

Decree-Law no. 115/2023 of 15 December was published, making the third amendment to Law no. 70/2013 of 30 August, reshaping the objectives of the Workers' Compensation Fund (FCT), as well as terminating the Equivalent Mechanism.

The new purposes of the FCT include support for workers' housing, support for investments in kindergartens and canteens, as well as the possibility for employers to fund the qualification and certified training of workers. The FCT's reconversion aims to allow companies that have contributed to the Fund to invest the mobilised funds in providing support for workers.

This Act is available here and will come into force on 1 January 2024, with the exception of the rule on Reinforcing the Workers' Compensation Guarantee Fund (art. 3), which will come into force on December 16th 2023.
