Retail Investment in the EU

The Commission has adopted a Retail Investment Package, aiming to empower consumers while investing in EU capital markets. The current package will amend the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II), the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), the Undertaking for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities Directive (UCITS Directive), the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), the Insurance and Reinsurance Directive (Solvency II), and the Insurance-based Investment Products Regulation (PRIIPs), after being present to the Council and the European Parliament.

The proposed amendments mostly target both the MiFID II, the IDD, and will have most impact on Fund Management Companies (FMCs), their pricing policies and procedures, according to the benchmarks that will be prepared by ESMA to assess the annual costs charged to investors.

The Commission is currently accepting feedback to said Package, until 11th of August 2023, through the following link.
