Congressional Hearing Highlights Damage to U.S. Economy Caused By Current U.S. Export Control System

Three industry leaders representing the aerospace and defense industries testified before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs this week.  Their message was united in their plea to change the existing

and outdated export control regulations that have been in existence since the Cold War.  While the Administration and American companies have been in agreement for some time that export control regulations must be overhauled, it now appears that Republicans and Democrats in Congress also agree that “common sense improvements” would “enhance U.S. national security, protect critical technologies and make our system easier to navigate for our American businesses.”  Yet there still seems to be disagreement over priorities and structure as well as what should be regulated and how.
