7-Eleven Facial Recognition Tool Breached Customer Privacy

Over a 14 month period, 7-Eleven used a facial recognition tool imbedded in a voluntary survey completed instore by customers.

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner commenced an investigation into 7-Eleven’s use of the facial recognition tool and found that 7-Eleven failed to meet the requirements of the Australian Privacy Principles.
