He has managed global litigation portfolios, negotiated critical commercial agreements, and advised business leaders on strategy in high-stakes disputes. His career spans roles at leading international law firms and as in-house counsel, giving him a perspective that balances aggressive advocacy with practical business insight.
Prior to joining Coblentz, John’s private practice career included roles as Senior Counsel at Carr McClellan LP, Senior Associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP and IP Litigation Associate at Reed Smith LLP. John also formerly served as Associate General Counsel of Via Licensing Alliance LLC, a subsidiary of Dolby Labs. He began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Garland Burrell in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California and to the Honorable James Ware in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
